Hey,
Here's a counterintuitive strategy.
Tell people NOT to follow you.
It works.
The Psychology:
When you tell someone not to do something they want to do it more.
It's called reactance.
Humans hate being told what to do.
How to Use This:
Create a post that says:
"Don't follow me if you're not ready to post 3x daily"
"Unfollow me if you just want quick hacks"
"This isn't for beginners. Don't follow unless you're serious"
Why This Works:
It filters for your ideal audience.
People who ARE serious will follow.
People who aren't serious will leave (good you don't want them anyway).
The Engagement Spike:
These posts get 2-3X more comments than normal.
People love proving they're part of the "serious" group.
They comment defending themselves.
"I'm ready!"
"I post daily!"
"I'm serious about this!"
Real Example:
I posted: "Don't follow me if you're not willing to work 90 days consistently"
Got 400+ comments of people saying they're committed.
Gained 2,000 followers that day.
Filtered out tire-kickers.
The Follow-Up:
After posting this create a CTA:
"If you're still here and ready to work type READY below"
Now you've qualified serious people.
You can DM them with an offer.
When to Use This:
When you want to filter your audience.
When you're launching a product (qualify buyers).
When your engagement is stale (creates controversy).
What NOT to Say:
Don't be actually rude or condescending.
It's reverse psychology not being an asshole.
Keep it challenging but not offensive.
The Template:
"Don't [action] if you [undesirable trait]"
"Don't follow me if you just want free tips without taking action"
"Don't join my program if you're not willing to invest in yourself"
The Backlash:
Yes some people will get offended.
Good.
They weren't your audience anyway.
You're building a business not a popularity contest.
Your Test:
Create one reverse psychology post this week.
Watch the comments flood in.
Watch your follower quality improve.
Use it strategically not every day.
But when you need to filter your audience it works perfectly.
